The Sound Essence Project is creating a cross cultural network of people and resources for world community and peace. We work in five core areas: Cultural Sustainability, Sustainable Living, Environments of Living, Health and Healing, and Peace. We are expanding world community and peace through education, Art, micro-lending, film and cultural communion.

Cultural Sustainability

The Mongolian Storyteller's Project

The Sound Essence Project works to preserve traditional practices with sustainable ways of life. The Mongolian Storyteller's Project is committed to supporting the continuation of traditional stories and healing practices of Mongolian Elders, whose traditions are presently at risk due to economic and cultural hardships. This project is a way of reviving traditional wisdom and stories among Mongolian Youth and Elders.

Traditional myths and stories provide a vital link to Mongolia's spiritual heritage, and support cultural traditions to the nation’s youth during times of intense modernization and change.

Sound Essence Productions brings together a diverse group of innovative filmmakers and social artists. Synergistic skills and interest create a forum of dynamic storytelling and advocacy.

The medium of film is a powerful tool for communicating the impact of the choices we make as individuals and societies on the lives of others. We are a group who believes that a story well told can change hearts, minds, lives, and communities.

The Mongolian Storyteller's Project is our contribution to preserve some of the traditional stories. The Summer of 2005 we filmed stories of the Tsaatan and Darhad people. We spent the summer of 2006 filming songs and stories in the Arkhungai region. In 2007 we will travel to Bayann-Olgii to travel with our friend and an artist Chimeddorjj, to film the Eagle People. A documentary and book will be produced.

Four Mongolian women have created The Blessing Bakery in Erdenet. The bakery is out of two women's homes where they bake cookies, breads, and other tasty treats they sell in their community at food kiosk, local stores and restaurants. This is a way to create sustainable incomes for the women, their children, and families.

Burundi

Burundi women create Bracelets for Peace. A new project is starting with Hutu and Tutsi women making Bracelets for peace. This is a microlending project that embraces both groups of women to work together, Creating bracelets that will be sold around the world. This will create a sustainable living so that women can care for their children and families and get out of the refugee camps to rebuild their homes and lives.

Environments of Learning

Scholarships for Mongolian Students

For the past two years, during trips to Mongolia, The Sound Essence Project interviewed and awarded college Scholarships to four women in Erdenet, one woman in the Lake Huvsgol area, and one young man in Ulaanbaatar. These students are bright stars without financial ability to further their education. Planting Trees For Peace

In September of 2006 with the help of Father Gaby in Erdenet, we have begun our tree planting project. Father Gaby has been instrumental in assisting the Sound Essence Project with the tree planting. He heads an orphanage in Erdenet, with a well on site. The children will manage and care for the growth of the newly planted trees, to ensure their survival during the first few critical years. We also added blueberry bushes to provide fruit and jam making processes. We are Excited to have the children and Father Gaby's involvement of Planting Trees for Peace.

Health and Healing

Rejuvenation occurs when people choose to activate the deeper design for our Evolution of health.

Peace

What Does Peace Look Like? -International Children's Art Show

What Does Peace Look Like? through the eyes of the world's children. We Received creative responses from 3rd and 4th graders from Mongolia, India, Greece, South Korea, Zimbabwe, Lummi Nation,

Northern Ireland, Canada, and the United States.

Our purpose for organizing this exhibit was to celebrate and to give voice to the creative spirit of the world's children. By expanding this vision of peace, we can experience the children's heartfelt expressions inspired throughout the world. We will continue to expand this art show. Presently we have received art from East Timor and soon will have art from Afghanistan.
